Charles Funnell, Artist, Jeweller and Silversmith

Striving to create pieces that eliminate extraneous information in the search for purity is one of my goals. It is the essence that speaks loudest. I am constantly learning and refining techniques that allow my expression to be truer to my vision. I want the concept to inform my process and not be bound to any particular technique. A common element within my work is a sense of movement, sometime real, sometimes imagined. The 3-dimensional quality of much of my work is an expression of my love for flowing forms.
Creatively, all I can do is push against my own boundaries and technical abilities, to constantly evolve, grow and interpret as an artist. I believe that the problem solving process is also key to my growth as an artist. It is through this process that I create moments of clarity and resolution that all artists struggle for as creative beings. It is the “Eureka” moment!
